The gentle, undiscovered Yorkshire Wolds and the spectacular Yorkshire Heritage Coastline are on our doorstep, allowing High Barn Cottages to offer a perfect place to spot wildlife, enjoy fantastic outdoor activities, visit stately houses, gardens and castles or simply relax and unwind. We feel very proud to have converted this historic building, saving many of its original features and creating a rich habitat for local wildlife. We're delighted to share access to our 600 acres with our visitors, who are welcome to take country walks from their doorstep.

Our five cottages at High Barn are supremely comfortable with superb kitchens and bathrooms and en suite facilities to each bedroom. Opened fully in 2012, always presented in pristine condition, they have received numerous awards for excellence and visitors frequently comment upon our attention to detail. They are all very spacious, furnished and fitted to the highest quality throughout, offering a charming mix of beams, stone walls and original features complemented by tasteful decor, deep sofas, generous super king beds, luxury bed linen and Freeview TV to all bedrooms and living areas. The Cake House and The Spinney are both single storey, ground floor accommodation, rated Mobility 2 and suitable for the less mobile ambulant visitor. Both have a generous 'wet' room.

Every cottage is connected by live webcam to our Barn Owl Nest Box, enabling visitors to watch both parent and baby owlets at any time of day and night. Our breeding pair have raised several clutches of chicks successfully.

Offering countless opportunities for photography, cycling, rambling, water-sports and golf (3 courses within 3 miles and a popular golf passport,) you'll be hard pressed to fit in all your preferred activities. This unspoilt part of Yorkshire has so much to offer the visitor, not least a slower pace of life and genuinely friendly people. Bridlington is our nearest traditional seaside resort. Sewerby Hall and Gardens is closer still and offers a delightful setting for a day's entertainment. The recently refurbished Hall now displays the largest on-loan collection of antique furniture in the country, from the Victoria and Albert Museum.

The East Riding has many hidden gems - lovely villages and market towns, big skies and unique landscapes with deep dry valleys and wide acres of rich farmland. David Hockney's recent work has attracted the world's attention to it's beauty. The famous seabirds at RSPB Bempton Cliffs are a sight to behold and never disappoint, with thousands of puffins and gannets nesting on the cliffs between March and October. With live cameras on their cliff top nesting sites, the birds can be watched close at hand.

We're justifiably proud of our local produce and have wonderful Farmer's Markets, bakers, butchers, restaurants and eateries. Fine dining is well catered for too. We have three Michelin starred restaurants within an hour's drive - none is stuffy or overly formal, and all are just as happy to serve a simple lunch as a special occasion dinner. Our complimentary Welcome Hamper showcasing Yorkshire Produce is always popular with our guests.

Venture a little further afield and take a day out in York, Whitby, Pickering on the North Yorkshire Moors' Railway or to The Museum Quarter in Hull. The Deep is an iconic building, with something to interest everyone. Hull, City of Culture 2017 offers an eclectic programme of events stretching through 2018. The Wolds is an ideal area for walking or cycling, with quiet roads and very little traffic. The North Yorkshire Moors stretch from Scarborough to Robin Hood's Bay then onwards towards Whitby with its atmospheric, brooding Abbey and contrasting lively Goth culture.

Ours is a quiet, rural setting, lovely to come home to, after a day discovering the delights of the area.
