Easter Cottages
For a couple of years Easter has been a little late in arriving. But this year it falls at the very start of April, so now is a great time to start thinking about booking your Easter break away.
This time of the year usually marks the start of the good weather too, so beach holidays are definitely on the cards. Finding a luxury cottage in a great location shouldn’t be left to the last minute, so if you want to get the best locations for that first weekend in April, now is the time to start planning your holiday. Here are our top five destinations for Easter cottage holidays:
Cornwall
Spring comes early to the South West, and Cornwall is in full bloom by the time Easter rolls around. A feast of family-friendly locations, award-winning beaches and unique attractions such as the Eden Project make Cornwall a perennial favourite with visitors. Cornwall is also one of the most dog-friendly counties, with most beaches and many visitor attractions dog-friendly all year round.
Dorset
Dorset’s softer, gentler landscape is a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The pace is slower, and an Easter break in Lyme Regis or along the West Dorset Heritage Coast gives you a chance to get out and about, and take things at your own speed. Blow the cobwebs away with a walk along Chesil Beach, or discover Hardy Country in and around the county town of Dorchester.
The Peak District
Britain’s oldest National Park is a walker’s delight. If you’re planning to get out and about this Easter then the Peak District is the place to head for. Dramatic granite cliffs and deep ravines give you all the scenic variety you could wish for, while a cluster of luxury cottages around Cromford, Litton and Great Longstone give you the perfect base for your adventures.
Pembrokeshire
The far west of Wales is a combination of mighty castles, dramatic beaches and rolling countryside that has been a favourite with visitors since Norman times. Today, it’s home to plenty of luxury cottages that are perfect for larger families who want to experience everything Pembrokeshire has to offer. The Pembrokeshire coast is often voted one of the best coastal destinations in the world. However, not all of the National Park (one of 3 in Wales) is coastal, and there is plenty of stunning scenery to explore inland too.
North Yorkshire
Once you discover the beauty of North Yorkshire (and that legendary warm welcome), you’ll want to come back time and time again. Easter in Yorkshire gives you the chance to experience local festivals and events, as well as discover the beauty of the North York Moors just as the spring blooms are really bursting into a mass of colour. There are also plenty of historic sites to head for too, such as the coastal town of Whitby and the diversity of the City of York itself.
