Whether you’re a seasoned walker or a tiny toddler just finding your feet, Pembrokeshire coastal walks boast endless options for those who want to get out and about on foot and discover this magical county.
If you likened the Pembrokeshire coast to a ski resort and its walking options to ski runs it has everything from black runs to nursery slopes and something for all ages and abilities.
The coastline stretches 180 miles from the enchanting village of St Dogmael’s in the North to Amroth in the South taking in some of the most spectacular coastal scenery in the world.
Superb views of cliffs, beaches and islands come as standard and the Pembrokeshire coastal path boasts dozens of hidden gems along the way including Bronze Age standing stones and Iron Age promontory forts.
Taking in the enchanting little city of St Davids (the smallest in Europe) in the North of the county, the coast path passes through some of the wildest and most rugged parts of Pembrokeshire.
Walking options range from short and leisurely – best built around a lunchtime stop off at one of Pembrokeshire’s excellent coastal pubs such as The Sloop in the picturesque little fishing village of Porthgain – to strenuous and demanding for those who want to see as much of the coastline as they can while they are in the county.
But walking options in the county are far from confined to the coastal path – shoppers would be short sighted to miss out on an afternoon stroll around Narberth – a quaint little market town in the East of the county. It’s High Street of multi coloured buildings is a haven of independent shops with offerings including fine art, food, antique and vintage finds.
And of course a simple stroll to the shore on one of Pembrokeshire’s award winning beaches is an option for visitors of all ages, come rain or shine.
