An exquisite and tranquil base in the Cotswolds

Five beautiful cottages lovingly converted from old stone farm buildings set around a stunning paved courtyard with water garden nestled in 70 acres of private woodland and wild flower meadows with pond. Wonderful views over unspoilt countryside. Two private gardens with hot tubs in Chestnut & Walnut cottages.

Oak panelling, stone walls, solid wood furniture, beautiful ironwork, exposed beams, and open fires are complemented by a wealth of other natural materials and furnishings. Scrupulously clean these very individual havens are equipped to the finest detail for your delight and comfort. The quality has been recognised with Gold awards for each of the cottages.

Lavender, fresh herbs and the sound of running water as you read, dine or stroll in the terraces outside. Fabulous grounds to explore, picnic or play in with easy access to connecting footpaths. In season, help yourself to nuts, blackberries and wild cherry plums - the birds and wildlife do!

Close to good restaurants, farmers markets, village pubs and shopping as well as to fishing, riding and golf facilities. Ideal for visiting cultural and architectural sights of Oxford, Stratford, Warwick; the shopping magnet of Bicester Village and all Cotswold attractions.

Green Tourism have awarded Gold for ongoing commitment to local suppliers and environmentally friendly decisions and practices. Walkers and Cyclists are welcome and there is a bike shed, facilities for cleaning boots and bikes and for leaving outdoor wear to dry. There's a host of information regarding local walking and cycle routes and services.

The grounds include garden, orchard, woodland and flower meadow. There's also a croquet and games lawn which has a games shed full of games and equipment, trampoline, swings and slide. There's sunloungers and other seating and even a compost loo. Within the meadows there's a model aircraft strip (electric motors only) used mostly by the boys of the house! On the far end of the farm there's mountain bike trails built by David and Nena's grandson.

We also have games room equipped with darts board, pool and table tennis tables. Lounge seating and a projector for film nights. There's also board games, wooden toys and train track. You'll also find selection of books which can be taken to the cottages.

The cottages are strictly no pets. However, the owners do have a dog in the grounds.

There are also chickens, goats and a couple of geese.

Very local: Great Tew - picturesque village, pub and site for Cornbury festival and home to Soho Farmhouse - 5 mins. Villages, pubs, restaurants - 5-10 mins. Hook Norton Brewery - 10 mins. Chipping Norton: market town, bookshop cafe, antiques, deli, farmers market. Blenheim Palace: fabulous garden, stately home and special events - 20 minutes. Oxford: University, shopping restaurants, punting, cinema, theatre - 45 mins. Stratford: Shakepeare's birthplace, shopping and theatre - 45 minutes. Cotswolds villages: Burford, Bourton on the Water, Stow on the Wold, the Slaughters - 20/30 mins. Bicester village:shopping - 30 mins

Meet the owner

Nena and David Barbour

Nena's Spanish heritage and personality influenced the flavour and style of the design and décor of the cottages: the careful attention to detail and scrupulous attention to cleanliness, while the abundance of lavender, herbs and flowers reflect Nena's love of gardening and tasteful eye. David's love of traditional skills and materials is evident in the stone masonry, woodwork and locally commissioned ironwork in the buildings. Today, David continues to manage a joinery, and maintain the property and grounds and spends a lot of time mowing and doing odd jobs! Nena continues to manage the holiday lets with the help of their daughters Abi & Lucy and son Mon and a small dedicated team keeping the cottages fresh, supplied, updated and clean. She also makes the beautiful flower arrangements with flowers picked from her garden, season permitting. Their daughter Abi and son Mon now also help with bookings, administration and any guest queries. Whenever David and Nena can they work in the garden but as busy grandparents this is not quite as often as they'd like!
